In this role, you will be a key member of VOA OK’s leadership team and will lead strategic talent management solutions to align people, HR processes, and organizational priorities with our vision. Reporting directly to the President/CEO, you will serve as a trusted advisor to organizational leadership and on people strategy. You will ensure that our HR policies and procedures support a positive employee experience and a culture of diversity, equity, inclusion and belonging.

This position requires an extremely perceptive person who is capable of relating to individuals at all levels within the organization. The Director must be sensitive to employee morale and organizational needs.

Detailed Description:

What You Will Do:

  • Collaborate with senior leadership to understand the organizations goals and strategy to staffing, recruiting, and retention.
  • Foster collaborative relationships with internal, and external, organizational stakeholders.
  • Design strategic people-related plans that support a culture of cohesiveness, diversity, equity and inclusion.
  • Identify and research HR issues; contribute information, analysis and recommendations to executive leadership team.
  • Provide insightful data to guide decision making and provide proactive solutions.
  • Lead and/or partner in a variety of HR project initiatives.
  • Maintains and coordinates employee recognition programs, as well as new hire orientation.
  • Schedule and enroll employees in on-site training classes.
  • Audit invoices to ensure accurate billing for benefits, training, etc.
  • Conducts exit interviews and analyzes data and makes recommendations to the management team for corrective action and continuous improvement.
  • Reviews, tracks, and documents compliance with mandatory and non-mandatory training, continuing education, and work assessments. This may include safety training, anti-harassment training, professional licensure, and aptitude exams and certifications.
  • Performs routine tasks required to administer and execute human resource programs including but not limited to compensation, benefits, and leave; disciplinary matters; disputes and investigations; performance and talent management; productivity, recognition, and morale; occupational health and safety; and training and development.
  • Handles employment-related inquiries from applicants, employees, and supervisors, referring complex and/or sensitive matters to the appropriate staff.
  • Maintains compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations, and recommended best practices; reviews policies and practices to maintain compliance.
  • Maintains knowledge of trends, best practices, regulatory changes, and new technologies in human resources, talent management, and employment law.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Qualifications/Requirements

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field required, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.
  • At least five (5) years of experience as an HR Business Partner or Generalist. SHRM-CP or SHRM-SCP highly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of federal, state, and local existing and proposed laws/regulations affecting human resources management. Ability to interpret appropriate laws and policies and ability to advise management and employees accordingly.
  • Critical thinker with strong analytical skills and the proven ability to extract information to support data driven decisions.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, negotiation, coaching, and conflict resolution skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Excellent time management skills with a proven ability to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to act with integrity, professionalism, and confidentiality.
  • Thorough knowledge of employment-related laws and regulations.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
  • Proficiency with or the ability to quickly learn the organizations HRIS and talent management systems.
