It's no secret that Oklahoma's workforce landscape is rapidly evolving, with challenges like worker shortages and skill gaps at the forefront. To tackle these pressing issues, organizations are enhancing their readiness and adaptability. Join us for a panelist presentation featuring key area resources that are leading the response to evolving staffing demands and preparing individuals to enter or re-enter the workforce. These experts facilitate continuous learning, aid in technology adaptation, and guide effective engagement strategies for organizations. In a state with diverse initiatives focused on workforce development, this program aims to provide actionable insights for optimizing talent strategies. At this program attendees learn about:

  • Preparing for Workforce Entry (or re-entry):  Explore education avenues including traditional forms of education such as vocational and tech programs, apprenticeships, professional degree programs, and initiatives geared towards disadvantaged populations, aging workers, and those facing unique challenges like childcare needs or other necessary accommodations.
  • Adapting to Workforce Changes:  Discuss innovative approaches beyond traditional training including the adoption of new technologies to help position individuals to demonstrate their abilities for early contributions in new work environments.
  • Continuing Learning Opportunities:  Describe ongoing support post-placement to enhance employee development and improve workplace performance. Including access to upskilling resources from either internal training or financial support for external training and education.
  • Employer Engagement Strategies: Share best practices for area employers interested in developing partnerships and job placement opportunities.

Rue Ramsey is the Vice President of Workforce and Talent Strategies in Economic Development at the Tulsa Regional Chamber. In this role, she works with regional stakeholders to provide collaborative solutions and talent strategies for workforce development across industry sectors. Whether assisting businesses with their talent development strategy or sharing best practices and global trends, Rue remains at the forefront of efforts to ensure Tulsa continues to have a qualified workforce.

Leveraging her extensive experience and knowledge of the broader talent landscape, she plays a key role in shaping initiatives to support economic prosperity and innovation. Her commitment to fostering resilience and sustainable growth is evident by her leadership and engagement in various initiatives aimed at promoting Tulsa as a thriving business hub. She founded the Tulsa’s NextGen Talent initiative that provides diverse high school and college students with clear pathways into careers. It was recently recognized as one of the best in the world by the International Economic Development Council. Prior to joining the Chamber, Rue was Education Director at Junior Achievement and College and Career Readiness Coordinator for Tulsa Public Schools.

Born and raised in this region, Rue witnessed the transformation of Tulsa into the current hub of diversified industries it is today. Her keen interest in the dynamics of economic growth and community empowerment prompted her to embark on a career dedicated to fostering positive change. She attended Oklahoma State University where she earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration and was a cheerleader. She serves on the board of The Higher Education Consortium and Teach for America. She is also an instructor for economic developers through the International Economic Development Council, graduated from the Association of Chamber of Commerce Executive’s Economic Recovery fellowship and was in the inaugural cohort of the African American Leadership Academy. She has been nominated and received various awards for her innovation and leadership. Most recently, she was named Student Champion of Success by City Year Tulsa.
In her spare time, you can find Rue with her husband Sterling, cheering on their 4 children in their sports and activities. She runs and bikes on trails throughout the greater Tulsa area and is always looking for a great book to read.

Brittany Crane's focus includes providing career and workforce development as well as technical assistance for OK CareerGuide and Connect 2 Business. She advises K-12 and tech center counselors on college and career readiness, as well as provides professional development assistance. In addition, Brittany serves as a liaison for outside entities involved in Oklahoma's workforce development. She has a strong passion for bridging the gap between education and Oklahoma’s workforce.

Prior to joining the Oklahoma Department of Career and Technology Education, Brittany worked for two of Oklahoma’s Federal Congressional members. She holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in agriculture leadership from Oklahoma State University.

Vicki Davila serves as the Green Country Business Services Liaison for the Oklahoma Department of Rehabilitation Services (OKDRS). In this role, she partners with local businesses and community resources to create a more diverse and inclusive workforce. Since joining OKDRS in 2019, Vicki has been dedicated to empowering individuals with disabilities, underscoring her deep passion for promoting accessibility and inclusion in the workplace. 

With a focus on assisting businesses in gaining knowledge and understanding about individuals with disabilities, Vicki strives to ensure that both job seekers and employers achieve their employment goals. Vicki’s dedication is evident in her mission to create equitable opportunities and inclusive environments in the workforce.

Heather Williams has been with Tulsa Tech for ten years, where her primary focus is enhancing the region’s business community through workforce development, organizational and performance consultation, and customized training. Tulsa Tech also addresses various needs for continuing education and licensing.

Before joining Tulsa Tech, Heather worked in the tourism departments of the Cherokee Nation and the Tulsa Regional Chamber. She holds a bachelor’s degree in Business from Northeastern State University.

In her spare time, Heather enjoys a cup of tea and spending quality time with her husband, Tim, and daughter, Gabrielle.
