2016 SHRM Excel Award: Platinum Chapter
The Excel Awards recognize achievements by SHRM chapters and state councils in three categories:
- Serving HR professionals: Initiatives that support and promote professionals with HR responsibility to be successful business leaders. Activities may be related to certification, professional learning, or skills development.
- Advancing the HR profession: Initiatives advancing the HR Profession by creating awareness with or supporting key constituents including workplace, government and regulatory representatives, employers, schools, media and the community at large. Activities may be outreach and awareness programs, government or public affairs, or focused on key issues such as inclusion, diversity, or workforce readiness.
- Enhancing the SHRM community: Initiatives providing programs and services that support SHRM, meet members’ needs, or further the Chapter or State Council efforts. Activities may include efforts to foster member engagement, retention and acquisition, volunteer development and recognition, or supporting the SHRM Foundation (e.g. conducting a leadership campaign, hosting a fundraising event, or receiving an SHRM Foundation Innovation Award).

SHRM Certification has strong momentum as we continue to see growth in the number of people who are SHRM certified, employer awareness and job postings citing SHRM certified as preferred or required qualifications, and growth across the country in SHRM chapters promoting SHRM certification to their members. The Society for Human Resources has awarded the Tulsa Human Resources Association the EXCEL Gold Award for 2015.

In 2015, TAHRA was recognized for its fundraising efforts and was awarded SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion.
2014 SHRM Excel Silver
In 2014, TAHRA received SHRM's EXCEL Award yet again. This award is part of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence and recognizes our chapter's accomplishments in promoting human resources in the Tulsa area.
2014 SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion
For the second year in a row, TAHRA received the SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion award recognizing our fundraising efforts.
2013 SHRM Excel Gold
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) has awarded the Tulsa Area Human Resources Association the EXCEL Gold Award for 2013.
The award is part of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence, which aligns individual chapters with SHRM. The award recognizes a chapter's accomplishments and strategic activities and initiatives that promote the human resources profession at the local level.
"This recognition is a distinct indication of the chapter's successful partnership with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession," said J. Robert Carr, senior vice president, membership, marketing & external affairs for SHRM.
TAHRA will be recognized in SHRM publications and at SHRM conferences. As an Excel winner, it receives a certificate of recognition and a special banner to display at its meetings and events.
2013 SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion
TAHRA is also recognized as an SHRM Foundation Chapter Champion for its fundraising efforts.
2013 Membership Star
In addition, TAHRA has been awarded the SHRM Membership Star for SHRM membership growth in 2013.
2011 SHRM Excel Silver
The Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM) in Alexandria, VA has awarded the Silver EXCEL Award designation to the Tulsa Area Human Resources Association, Chapter Number 0175 for its scope of work in 2011.
The EXCEL Award is the recognition component of the SHRM Affiliate Program for Excellence (SHAPE). SHAPE measures include alignment with SHRM's overall objectives, strategic focus and initiatives as well as promoting the HR profession at the local level.
"This recognition demonstrates both the leadership and the successful partnership the chapter has with SHRM to serve the networking and professional development needs of human resource professionals and to the advancement of the human resources profession" noted Pamela J. Green, SPHR, Vice President, U.S. Membership for SHRM.
TAHRA receives a Certificate of Recognition, a specialized banner to display at its meetings and events, and is being recognized in SHRM's publications and at its conferences.
